There are 3 major producers of video game consoles who have made their brand leaders amongst the various available in the industry. They are Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony. Microsoft`s Xbox 360, Nintendo`s Wii products and Sony`s Playstation are three major contenders for the top slot in the Video game console industry.
By discussing the major features and the corresponding advantages and disadvantages of these leading models, we will be in a position to decide upon selecting the right video game console for ourselves. There are several factors such as the price of the console, graphics capability, games selection and other features such as touch screen, portability and online features which guides in the selection of right type of video game console.
Wii
The Wii is a seventh generation video game console invented by Nintendo, a Japanese company. The Wii remote is the most distinguishing part of this gaming console. The remote controls the console instead of a joystick. It uses a sensor bar to point at the LEDs on the console. The player is free to gesticulate or use the buttons provided on the remote. The remote is connected wirelessly via Bluetooth. An optional remote jacket is provided to prevent accidental falling and breaking of the remote. Microsoft came up with Xbox 360 to add variety to the already exciting range of video game consoles. Three different options are available as far as the Xbox 360 consoles are concerned. They are `Arcade`, `Premium` and `Elite`. The three variants are very different in configuration, games and also price.
The Xbox 360 integrates chatting and exercises with its gaming console to provide additional interest. Users can display pictures and play music while playing games on the console. PlayStation 3
The PS3 is a home video game console by Sony. It is also a seventh generation video game console like Wii and Xbox 360. Photographs can be viewed; and music and movies played with ease. High-definition graphics are the major attraction in PS3.
PlayStation 3 also provides a wireless controller charged with a USB cable. Due to difficulties in manufacturing the Blu-ray format, production of the 20, 40 and 60 GB PS3s have been discontinued. High price is serving as a deterrent for PS3`s sales.
